About Me

I was born and lived in Ohio until 14 when my family moved to California and I started high school. I also pursued my interest in flying by joining the Civil Air Patrol. I obtained my Private Pilots License at age 17, before I even had my drivers license.  Right after high school graduation I obtained my Flight Instructors Certificate and worked as a  flight instructor at the local airport.  I was responsible for making sure each student met all the FAA skill requirements before recommending them for the written exam and flight test.

I served in the California Army National Guard from 1969 through/until 1975 and received an honorable discharge.

I joined the Los Angeles Police Department in August, 1970, worked an undercover assignment in the Public Disorder Intelligence Division, before having two Patrol assignments. Still pursuing my love of flying, I transferred to the Air Support Division as a police helicopter pilot.  I became the Chief Pilot at LAPD and was responsible for certifying the new pilots and giving check rides to all the line pilots for currency in emergency procedures.

After continuing my education and training to obtain a jet rating, I left the LAPD before reaching a retirement in 1982 to start a career in Corporate Aviation flying jets. I continued in law enforcement part time, serving my community from 1983 to 1990 as a Reserve Police Officer with the La Verne Police Department. By 1987 I had worked my way up the ladder to a Fortune 100 Company (Warner Communications, later Time Warner) flying top of the line corporate jets. I flew our corporate executives and entertainment celebrities all around the world.  I became the Chief Pilot at Time Warner and supervised 13 pilots and 5 flight attendants, handled scheduling and managed the training budget of more than half a million dollars. I flew all around the world with that company for 27.5 years until my retirement in 2014. After that I flew part time for the Metropolitan Water District of Southern Calif.  This is where I learned that water is very political and the only thing more political than water is garbage.  I, also learned what a massive effort it is to make sure there is water coming out of the faucets at everyone’s home in a desert which is what Southern California is, a desert.

I had started buying real estate in 1986. I started with single family homes and then small unit apartment buildings. Some were used as rental units and others remodeled and sold.  I managed more than $3 million dollars of real estate including the rentals and over saw the remodels.  I’ve since sold all of my California real estate, and re-invested in Idaho.

By the time I retired from the Time Warner flight department, California had become a state dominated by liberal politicians that controlled the entire state.  Their liberal policies were destroying the state, rising crime, rampant homelessness, illegal aliens, business leaving the state.  Taxes were completely out of control, 13.2% state tax, high gas taxes, utility taxes, and the list goes on and on.

My wife and  I decided to make our home elsewhere.  In 2019 my wife Terry and I moved to Post Falls.   Knowing what I know now I would have moved here in 1967 after I graduated high school.

I sold my last airplane and my primary hobby now is shooting.  I’m trying to get good but there is not enough ammunition in the world for me to get really good.
